How to purify lungs and keep them healthy?

Lungs are important respiratory system consisting of group of organs and tissues which work together to help in breathing. It in-hales fresh air in form of oxygen and ex-hales waste gases in form of carbon dioxide. Oxygen is moved into bloodstream and carried through body. As person breathe, air passes down throat into trachea which is called windpipe. Trachea divides into smaller passages called bronchial tubes which go into each lungs. It further branches out into smaller subdivisions throughout each side of lungs.  Lungs do not have muscles to pump air in and out, though.

Generally, adults take about 15-20 breathe per minute which comes around 20,000 breaths a day. Even if it looks easier, its very complex process. A person can't deny what has been transferred from genetics but can control and adopt a habit to make a change. The potential diseases which affects lungs are:

1. Asthma
Its a reactive airway lung disease where sufferer experience shortness while breathing due to passing of air being inflamed and narrowed. The symptoms of asthma are chest tightness, shortness of breathe, blood while coughing and wheezing (rattling sound in chest).

2. Lung cancer
Its an uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells which effect one or both lungs. As result, abnormal cells do not develop healthy tissue and form tumour. Coughing a blood which you can't get rid of, wheezing, hoarseness, bone paining, losing weights, getting headaches and wheezing are its symptoms.

3. Chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD)
COLD is obstructive lung disease by chronically poor flow of air. Tobacco smoking is one of the main cause for it where air pollutions, occupational exposures and genetics are vital cause. It prevents person to breath hard due to degeneration of lungs and excess of mucus.

4. Lung infection
It is an infection which are caused by virus affecting lungs either in small air sacks (pneumonia) or large airways (bronchitis). These infection can cause severe fluid in the lungs such as persistent fever and swollen lymph nodes.

Trachea (windpipe) plays major role as passive air passageway. It begins at inferior end of lyrnax in base of neck, just deep to the skin. While swallowing food, oesophagus expands into space normally occupied by trachea. Expansion and contraction during breathing is worked by trachea to move within neck and thorax. The size of trachea doesn't expand along with increased weight which leads to breathing problem. For an overweight, it increase work and energy expenditure into breathing. This is the reason why when asked an overweight person to walk or run faster gets tired quickly.

How to purify lungs?

Avoiding cigarette smoke is the best way to promote good lung health but its hard for people to avoid smoking having such habit. Chemicals contained in cigarette damages the cells within the lungs resulting to greater risk of lung cancer.

Following are the steps that helps to enhance purify the lungs.

1. Cut out dairy products containing toxins:
Toxin is usually an organic poison in form of proteins, molecules or antigenic produced from microorganisms on contact with or absorption by body tissues. Avoid daily consuming dairy diets which are filled with these toxins such as citrus-flavoured sodas, non-organic yogurt, neon-oranged coloured cheese etc.

2. Drink regular cup of herbal tea before going to bed. It releases toxins which cause toxic build up in gastro-intestinal tract.

3. Drink fresh juices containing more natural antioxidants like pineapple and grapes. It helps to soothe and relieve the respiratory system.

4. Drink carrot juices between breakfast and lunch:
Carrot produces falcarinol, a natural pesticide that protects its roots from fungal diseases. It helps to alkalize blood during lung cleansing process.

5. Drink juices containing potassium during lunches. Fruits which are rich in potassium are also described under diet tips 2. It includes prune, orange and grapefruit juices.

6. Drink cranberry juices just before sleeping. It eliminates infection-causing bacteria. However, researchers are still unable to prove that cranberry kills bacteria but it does limit bacteria ability to swim and thus stops from spreading.

Inhaling vapour of eucalyptus oil filled with hot water covering head under a towel also helps to purify lungs.
